Paul Dixon. Wildlife artist

Back to Index
Paul B. Dixon was born in Scotland but spent his childhood in Cornwall where he developed his love for natural history.

From an early age, Paul showed a natural aptitude for drawing and spent many hours with pad and pencil.

During 1981, Paul relocated to South Africa, where he experienced first-hand the wildlife in it's natural habitat.

The vast open spaces and unique atmosphere coupled with the fauna inspired Paul to begin working in his preferred medium of soft pastel.

Having had no formal art training, Paul Dixon has developed his own individual technique and style, drawing attention to the animals without losing the atmospheric vastness of Africa.
The images on this page are all available as numbered "Giclee" prints on high quality watercolour paper, signed by the artist.
Image sizes are 525mm x 800mm. Each Giclee is rolled and put into a cylinder for safe despatch to any destination worldwide.

He believes in "living the experience" and makes regular trips to the bush, collecting reference and rekindling the inspiration hoping to capture the essence of Africa and her wildlife in his work. Paul's work has been exhibited widely throughout South Africa in many group and solo exhibitions as well as selected galleries.

He has also sold paintings at exhibitions in Germany and the UK.

His paintings have been a part of the prestigious Christie's of London Wildlife Auction for the last six consecutive exhibitions.

Paul Dixon has been elected as a member of the Society of Animal Artists, New York and is hoping to expand his market into the United States.

He is a member of The Wildlife Art Society UK, and will be participating in their 9th annual exhibition in Bristol later this year.

During 1999 Paul became a member of the Marwell Wildlife Art Society in the UK and took part in the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art in Liverpool and the Marwell Society's summer exhibition in August 2000.

He is listed in the World Artist Directory and a member of the World Wide Nature Artists, along with some of the world's best.

Paul's work can now be found in private and corporate collections in over twenty countries around the world as far afield as Taiwan and South America.

His paintings have been published on numerous occasions and have been reproduced in the form of limited edition litho and giclee prints.
